Essay 05 MY HERO IN LIFE / QUAID-E-AZAM   زندگی میں میرا ہیرو/ قائداعظم

  • “Failure is a word unknown to me.”
  • (Muhammad Ali Jinnah)

The bright star of the history of Pakistan is Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It was the will of Allah that the physically weak son of Poonjah Jinnah would one day be the founder of Pakistan. He was born in Karachi on December 25, 1876.

After his matriculation, he was sent to England for higher studies. He studied hard and was known as a good student. He qualified from the Lincoln’s Inn as a brilliant Barrister. On his return to India he joined the Indian National Congress. He was supporter of the Hindu-Muslim unity. But the narrow vision of some leaders disappointed him. He decided to join the Muslim League.

He inspired the Muslims of India with his glorious vision. He worked hard for a separate home land for the Muslims. The odds were against him. The Hindus and the British were hostile to him. His aim was high. He organized the party. The Muslims gathered under his leadership and worked for the separate homeland.

August 14, 1947 was the day of his victory. Pakistan appeared on the map of the world. He took oath of office as the first Governor General of the new country.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah was the Quaid-e-Azam in the true sense of the word. His health had been breaking down under a heavy pressure of work. He died in Karachi on September 11, 1948. But founders and heroes like him never die.

“Education is a matter of life and death for Pakistan. The world is progressing so rapidly that without requisite advance in education, not only shall we be left behind others but may be wiped out altogether.”  (Quaid-e-Azam, September 1947)

Essay 06 LIBRARIES     کُتب خانے
  • “I don’t have to look far to find treasures.
  • I discover them every time I visit a library.”

Libraries are the places where you go in and discover the world. With the spread of literacy, libraries have become important tools for learning. Public instruction is making rapid progress everywhere in Pakistan. There are schools and colleges in almost every part of the country. Twenty first century dawns with a sure promise to be a century of peace and educational explosion.

Naturally when there is thirst for knowledge, there is also an ever-increasing demand for books and magazines. Everybody does not have the means to buy books of all sorts. Mass education programme is bound to suffer adversely if there are no free libraries for students.

“The library is the heart of the school.”

I am very fond of reading books. Therefore I spend much of my time in the school library. It is a tragedy that majority of the students is not seen in the library. The libraries are deserted now a days. If the students develop the fondness of going to libraries, our country will make progress by leaps and bounds.

Our school libraries are not functioning properly. There are practically no reading facilities. There is no whole-time staff for libraries. The students do not take interest in reading books. They have much work in their class rooms. They have to cover their syllabus. Generally, they do not have enough free time to enjoy stories and novels. So, most of the students do not use library books.

Libraries play an important role in creating a love of books and interest in current affairs. Their reading rooms promote a spirit of discipline, research, enquiry and fellowship. Libraries with a variety of attractive titles have a healthy effect on the eager minds of students.

“A library is a place vibrating with ideas.”

Essay 07 HEALTH    تندرستی

“Health is wealth” is a well-known proverb. Health is precious and certainly a great blessing of Allah. It is said that if health is gone everything is gone. If a man is not in good health, his life loses interest. He cannot enjoy food and other blessings with full peace of mind. That is why we say that the real wealth of a man is his health.

“I am confident that nobody will accuse me of selfishness if I ask to spend time, while I am in good health, with my family, my friends and also with myself.”

(Nelson Mandela)

Good health is a matter of great concern. Health is not only the absence of disease but also a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. In order to get good health, we should follow a healthy and disciplined life style. Simple and balanced diet is also necessary to maintain good health. Exercise is very important to be healthy and active in our daily life.

Health is very important for all of us. It is easy to destroy health but it is very hard to rebuild it. It will be very wise to take care of our health.

It always seems good to be healthy. Many people think that being healthy is a difficult task. They are of the view that it involves lot of dieting and time at the gym daily. Good health requires some simple steps. The habit of drinking more water must be adopted for good health. Meals should be taken properly at the right times. Exercise is also compulsory to maintain good health.

When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied.”
